The new year is here, and with it comes fresh goals and ambitions. Many of us are determined to push our businesses, nonprofits, and projects forward. But let’s be real—how many of us have included networking in that plan? If the answer is “not enough,” this 3-part series is for you.
The title of this series was inspired by an Instagram reel from Hayley Mulenda, where she powerfully proclaimed, “You’re too broke not to be visible.” Her message was clear: to create the opportunities you seek, you need to make yourself visible. It’s about showing up, staying consistent, and building a presence so strong that people start seeking you out.
Think about it: you’ve got brilliant ideas, undeniable passion, and incredible work that could transform your community or industry. But if people don’t know about you or your work, or if they don’t trust what you do, how far can you really go? Networking is the key that bridges the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.
This concept connects beautifully to the Six Degrees of Separation theory—the idea that we’re only six people away from connecting with anyone in the world. With intentional networking, I believe you can cut that number down to three. By building meaningful connections, we can significantly reduce the barriers to accessing the opportunities, resources, and relationships we need to succeed.
